This week is week 11 of my 12 week training period. My midweek runs started out with nice short distances around 3 miles and each day had its own focus. Tuesdays were my just go out and see how you feel, Wednesdays were either hill or speed workouts, and Thursdays were an easy 3 mile jog. The runs averaged anywhere from 3 to 5 miles each day.
This week I ran 5, 3 (speed) and 3 (easy jog). Tomorrow will be my recovery/day off. Saturday will be my last long run (between 8 and 10) and Sunday will be an easy 3.
Today is the last day of my "peak" training and now I get to start to taper. All those early morning training runs during the week are past me. I have to admit there were days when I really had to push myself to get out of bed and work through it. Even today I tried to convince myself I only needed to do 2 miles and then all of a sudden, I was already at 2.25 and only had 3/4 of a mile to go.
This is great lesson for me...sometimes you want to quit but when you've put the time and energy into something and the commitment, you CAN finish and you CAN work through it.
